Meet Rebecca Jones - Central's Communication Intern

My name is Rebecca Jones and I am the communications intern at Central UMC. I will be a senior at Maryville College this fall and hoping to graduate with a Bachelor’s in Writing Communications. My parents, Neal and Francie Jones, volunteer at the church also. My dad sometimes works the sound booth on Sunday mornings and my mom does so much that I can’t possibly put it all in one blog post. I also have an older brother, Brent.

I have been a member of Central for some years now. When I was in high school, I was very involved with our youth group and now as a college student, I am still involved, but now as a mentor to the students.

Internships are a great way to gain experience in your field, learn hands-on, and make new connections. I’ve been given an opportunity to intern with Central on their marketing team. As the intern for communications, I’ve been given the role of our church website’s blogger. I’ve written a couple blogs now, but I wanted to write a little bit about myself to let my readers know who I am and what I’m about.

As a writing communications major from Maryville College, this internship will allow me to understand how a communications team works and give me creative strategies for when I’m pursuing a career after college.

Blogging is a cool way to let the church members and guests know what is happening at this church, from the new youth intern to our different kinds of ministries. My goal with these blogs is let the community know what’s going on and to let everyone who reads them know that we at Central are a place of Christ’s love.

- Rebecca
