The Story of Ryan Willette
On June 28, 2008 I admitted my belief that Jesus is the son of God. I remember the date because there are still tickets for the event on sale.
I was saved at a youth evangelism conference held at the arena that I would later graduate in.
That night, the 6,800-capacity arena felt tiny, as I had my second most personal experience with God.
My journey to the arena floor was a roller coaster. My earliest memory of church was in Sunday school when my family visited my grandparents in Mexico. It’s safe to say that I had no idea what I was supposed to be taught.
When I was between 6-8 years old, my mom sporadically made my brother and me go to a local non-denominational church. But we completely stopped going after my parents divorced when I was nine.
My parents each later devoted their lives to Christ and remarried by the time I was fourteen, while I resisted religion. Although, the more I thought about it, the more it made sense.
The day I admitted the truth of Christ, I felt a physical pull, by what I now know was the Holy Spirit. It showed me, without a doubt, that I was making the most logical decision I could make.
Over the last several years, my faith has been a journey that has led me to Lenoir City as the Youth Director at Central.
