The United Methodist Women Social Action Day
United Methodist Women calls for sound stewardship of the earth and environmentally friendly lifestyles that preserve creation for the benefit of present and future generations. In keeping with this principle, the theme of the 2021 district social action program is Climate Justice. The district social action program, hosted jointly by the Tennessee Valley and Smoky Mountain districts, is scheduled for Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Central United Methodist Church in Lenoir City. The featured speaker is Heather Bennett, Co- director, Blessed Earth Southeast. Blessed Earth is a faith-based, educational nonprofit organization that promotes the love of God and neighbors through the ministry of creation care. Heather has a master’s in sustainability from Lipscomb University and served as manager of social media communications for the United Methodist Church denomination.
