PURPOSE OF UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a Community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

BUDGET

For the past several years the annual budget for the local unit of UMW has been between $4,000 and $4,500 per year. This money is raised through each member’s pledge to the UMW plus several fund raisers held throughout the year. These include bake sales held at Wednesday Night Live in the spring and fall, the Mother’s Day bulletin, and the Lifestyles restaurant and entertainment book that we sell approximately once a year.

This money is used to support the national UMW (through our pledges). Monies raised from the fundraisers support regional mission projects, including the Red Bird Mission in Kentucky, Wesley House in Knoxville, and the Holston Home for Children in Greeneville. Local projects include the Good Samaritan Center, Domestic Violence Crisis Center, and Child Advocacy group in Loudon County to name a few.

The United Methodist Women wants to increase its membership. We have a very active membership. This year an evening circle, Hope Circle, for working women and mothers with small children was started.

The circles are:

Martha Circle that meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. at the church.

Ruth Circle meets on the third Thursday of each month at 1:30 p.m. in the members' homes.

Hope Circle meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Childcare is provided.

We invite and welcome all ladies to come and join us.
