Central
has recently begun a new way of doing Sunday School!
Gone are the days of one lesson per week - 52
weeks a year - hoping the children can remember
one lesson from another. Instead, our church is
pleased to announce the introduction of...
Rotation Sunday School!!
Rotation Sunday School is a "Module-Based
Program", focusing on only one Bible scripture
/ story per "Rotation". During the summer
months, children in grades 2 - 5 are trying out
our new program, and beginning this September,
the Kindergarden and 1st graders will also participate.
We have had many positive comments so far, and
the kids are really excited about this new way
of doing things.
"Rotations" will generally be a period
of five weeks, and will explore different aspects
or perspectives of the story being studied. Classes
will vary with each rotation, and may include:
arts and crafts, computer labs, drama and music,
gardening, games and puppetry arts, history and
science or movies.
"Teachers", are volunteers who have
signed up for a specific rotation, based upon
their own talent or skill. Each week, they will
share the module's scripture; prepare the children
for a time of prayer and praise; and then teach
an age-appropriate lesson, which will vary from
teacher to teacher.
Each grade has an assigned "Shepherd".
Shepherds are responsible for ensuring all children
are properly signed in and out of class by the
child's parent or responsible adult, will take
up roll and offerings, and will follow-up on children
who have been out for two or more weeks. Shepherds
will be a constant in your child's life, as they
will be assigned to their "Flock" for
a period of one year, and will go from room to
room with the children.
Right now, we have a temporary table set up in
the Children's Hall to show which room each grade
will be that day. Eventually, the Room Designation
Board will be a featured item in a new mural,
based on our theme, "Journey Into Bible..."
So...
Bring your children to Sunday School and let us
excite and enrich their lives as we Journey Into
The Bible with Rotation Sunday School!! |
