I was born and raised in Rockwood, Tennessee. Rockwood United Methodist Church was my home church.

I graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where I received a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in History and Minor in Religious Studies.

My theological training was done at Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and O.R.U. in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I have a Master of Divinity degree and was on the National Dean’s List when I graduated.

My wife Becca grew up in Corryton, Tennessee, just outside of Knoxville. She has a Music Degree in Voice and Piano from Cumberland College. We have two children, Caleb who is 10 years old and Olivia who is 9 years old.

I have been a pastor in the Holston Conference for 24 years. My pastoral appointments have been:

1996-2004- Pastor, First United Methodist Church in Knoxville
1994-1996- Associate Pastor, Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Knoxville
1988-1994- Pastor, Magnolia Avenue United Methodist Church in Knoxville
1984-1988 – Pastor, Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Maryville
1982-1984 – Pastor, Mountain View/Seven Mile Ford United Methodist Churches in Chilhowie, Virginia.

Within the Conference I serve on the Board of Ordained Ministry.
